Our independence
We take no commission on any MM2H application and no commission on any property purchase. Nearly every other site ranking for these topics is a licensed agent or a developer. That is the difference, and it only means anything if we are specific about it.
What we do not do
- We are not a MOTAC-licensed MM2H agent and we cannot submit applications.
- We take no referral fee from any MM2H agent, and maintain no preferred-agent list.
- We receive no commission on any property purchase, in Forest City or anywhere else.
- We have no affiliation with the Government of Malaysia, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, or the Immigration Department.
Why this matters for what you read
An agent earns between RM 40,000 and RM 200,000 in fees when you apply. A developer earns a commission when you buy. Neither can publish "this route is overpriced for you" or "Thailand is the better answer" without arguing against their own revenue. Most of the advice you will find is accurate. Almost none of it is disinterested.
The practical consequence: we publish the conclusion even when it is unhelpful to the programme. See is MM2H worth it, where the answer for most people is no.
How we are funded
Through reader-paid guides and, where relevant, clearly labelled affiliate links to services such as international health insurance and money transfer. Any affiliate link is labelled in the sentence that contains it, not in a footer disclosure you will never read. We do not accept paid placement in editorial content, and we do not accept payment to recommend an agent.
Corrections
If we get something wrong we correct it and date the change. Tell us.
Common questions
Is My Second Home an MM2H agent?
No. My Second Home is an independent publisher, not a MOTAC-licensed agent, and cannot submit or assist with applications. We take no referral fee from any agent and no commission on any property purchase, which is what allows us to publish conclusions that are unfavourable to the programme.
This policy is current as of July 2026 and will be updated, with the change dated, if our funding model changes.
